Book Illustration
You have written the story. Perhaps its characters are already walking about in your imagination, waiting for someone to show the world what they look like.
I can follow them from the opening page to the last, giving your manuscript a visual world that feels whole and true to the words. Your wishes and ideas become part of the drawing, too.

How an illustration comes to life?
1
First, we talk. We look at images and styles you love, until what you see in your mind begins to take shape in mine.
I work mainly in watercolour and pen-and-ink. The visual language remains consistent throughout the book, while the characters live, move and interact as the story asks them to. Their appearances are born from my imagination, in conversation with yours.
From the first sketch to the finished image, there are several opportunities to discuss and refine the work. You remain part of the journey, and we keep the destination in sight together.
2
Our practical work begins with a contract. Invoicing may take place in stages, or through a single final invoice for smaller projects. The finished illustrations are delivered as high-quality digital scans in formats that your book designer can readily use.
Pricing generally follows two levels of complexity: fully developed scenes—with several interacting characters and backgrounds, often intended for a full page—and simpler illustrations, such as individual characters without backgrounds.
And if the road from manuscript to published book still seems mysterious, I can put you in touch with professionals who know that part of the journey.
Images that feel true to you

If you have spent a little time among my pictures, you may already know whether their atmosphere speaks to you. Working together will tell us whether we understand one another just as well.
If we do not, you are free to step away before making a commitment.
If we continue, we will talk until the blank spaces have found their meaning. I can recreate an illustration completely once, and make further smaller adjustments as we refine it.
Take the first step
Before we begin working together, we'll have an initial consultation, which is completely free. It is a chance to tell me about your book and decide whether you would like me to be the one who gives it pictures.
I will ask for any text and reference material that may help, then prepare a personalised quotation. Once we have agreed and signed a contract, I will keep you informed as the drawings develop and deliver finished illustrations as they are completed.
Write to andi@langandi.hu, or use the form below. Tell me, in a few words, what kind of images you dream of—and, if you wish, why they matter to you.
Get in touch and tell me a little about your book and what it's about.
